History in the Making!
On August 1st, the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 100th anniversary, having been chartered in 1924. At a gathering at the Chamber’s offices, Executive Director Bruce Thomas, Membership Services Coordinator Karen Kania, and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors welcomed the public to share in their celebration. At the conclusion of the event, Bruce Thomas unveiled the Chamber’s project to commemorate the anniversary and to memorialize the community it serves – The Wellsville Mural. The mural, featuring a collection of prominent Wellsville images, will be painted on the side of the L’Italia Restaurant building on Main Street. The initial concept for the painting can be seen below:

The artist, Corinn Marriott, will begin work on the mural on August 19th. The initial concept is designed to accommodate expansion in the future to include additional area landmarks if funds become available. The Chamber is hoping to raise approximately $15000.00 to fulfill the vision of a larger mural with more local content. Donations are being accepted by the Wellsville Development Corporation to achieve this goal.
If you wish to be part of this historic project, there are a number of ways to donate. Any amount is welcome. However, if the donation is $500.00 or more, your name or the name of your business will be included on a plaque that will be placed below the mural.
To donate online, proceed to the Wellsville Development Corporation’s Donation Portal where you can pay through Paypal or with a credit card. If you prefer to pay by check, you can download the Wellsville Mural Donation Form and forward it with your check. Checks should be made out to the Wellsville Development Corporation. They are a 501c3 Charitable Organization, so all donations are tax exempt.
Donations can also be made directly at the Chamber’s offices at 114 North Main St. If you have questions, call the Chamber at 585-593-5080.
Corinn is making progress. Here is the actual state of the mural as of August 31st:
